Broccoli Boy

Last week Matthew got to trail rice. At dinner on Monday night he asked for some Broccoli thinking he would never eat it we gave it to him. Well he ate it and loved it. So he trailed both rice and broccoli and PASSED. Yeah he now has three foods in his diet that are safe. Here are some pictures from when we went out to eat and he was able to enjoy some broccoli while the rest of us ate our dinners.

Happy 5th Birthday Micah!

Today, we celebrated Micah's 5th Birthday. He wanted to play Candyland and have spagetti for dinner. Such simple things to make his day. The rest of the day was spent playing outside and at homeschool gym.

Potty Training

Haaaaaaa

Well, I bit the bullet and Matthew is now wearing underwear during the day. He is so ready to train yet because of his tummy issues is going to be oh so interesting to train. Let's hope that he is quickly trained and we can finally get rid of the diaper pail.

Today, we also got the results of the biopsies from last week and he now has the diagnosis of Eosinophilic Colitis. At this point, we continue with food trails of one ingredient/food per week and pray that we guess right and are quickly able to add foods back into his diet.

Fun At the Andover YMCA

Today, we took the boys up to the Andover YMCA, well worth the hour drive. The pool is a wonderful water park for the boys to play in. After two hours I think they were finally getting water logged. So many fun things to do in the water, 3 small slides, 2 large water trees, a water curtain, many wheels to turn and then of course the ducks to play with. This will be a trip we will make again. The best part for us parents it is free because we are already YMCA members. Yes it is an hour drive but well worth the time for a couple hours at a water park and then being able to sleep in our own beds at night:)

A Proud Reader

About two weeks ago, Micah started reading The Beginner's Bible to me. He is so very proud of himself that he can read the bible. At the end of each story, I ask a question or two, he bounces as he proudly answers from what he just read. Learning to read has been a huge thing for him as he feels like the big guy that he is. I am very proud of my newest reader.

Trying to figure out Matthew

Ok well that will never really happen, but we are trying to figure out what he can eat safely. As a result of seemingly months of chronic diahrea, Matthew will be having his second upper and lower scope done on Monday March 15th. Currently, Matthew has been on formula only for 2 weeks. Today we allowed him to eat a small amount of apple. Apples will be the only food he is allowed for the next week. We are praying that his system is willing to accept this food. Hopefully we will have more information after Monday's scope and we will be able to continue to move forward in food trials. He is also scheduled to see a new allergiest on April 8.

Bryce's First Written Narration

Bryce is currently reading Boy of the Pyramids by Ruth Fosdick Jones. This is a mystery of Ancient Egypt. As he has read throught the book we have been working hard on him narrating 3 to 5 complete sentences at the end of each chapter. On Friday, I was not going to be home during quiet time and he was afraid he wouldn't remember the details when I got home. So as a compromise I told him to write 3 to 5 sentences like he had been telling me for the other chapters, not copying them directly from the book. In all honestly, I don't know what I was expecting but it certainly not what I got. Here is Bryce's narration for Chapter 7 The Green Stone.

After Socaris, Kaffe, and Sari ate lunch. Socaris went to tell someone to get the rock choice for making to silver rings. While Socaris was chosing the rock or rocks Kaffe and Sari explored. Whoops rocks tumbled. Sari picked up them. When she thought they were all picked up she found a treasure of the father of Pharoah Khufu. Socaris and the children went to show Pharoah Khufu.

I did correct the spelling and added some punctution. I am very impressed that he was able to do this and now I hope to help him continue to work on his narration skills so writing becomes easier and easier for him.

Egyptian Murals

The boys have been learning about Ancient Egypt for a few weeks. Today, they made murals telling about thier everyday activies and favorite activities. They learned that Egyptians would draw on the walls of pyramids so they were able to draw on our walls, well paper taped to the walls. The boys worked very hard on their drawings making sure to include all of their favorite daily activies. Bryce drew himself reading Balto, eating spagetti, playing with his stuffed dogs, watching Zaboomafoo, and painting. Micah drew Blankie having a birthday party, himself eating spagetti and of course being Bowser while playing Mario Cart. Matthew drew monkeys.
