Swimming at Lake Elmo

Today was a beautiful day to be at the beach. Good thing, Gressa and I decided to have a playdate at Lake Elmo.  The boys loved being able to play with Mikayla, Garrett, and Abby.

Roseville Playground

On Monday morning the boys and I went to the Roseville library to get a book for our history program. On the way, we stopped by a playground. The boys had fun running around and just being outside. The heat of the summer has slowed down our playground adventures, but we will continue finding playgrounds any day that we can.

Swimming with New Life Homers

This summer the boys are playing baseball with the New Life Homers.  This is a group of mostly home school families that play non-competitive baseball every week in the summer. It is a wonderful opportunity for our boys to get to play some baseball while hanging out with friends. Last week, we had a great opportunity to go swimming after baseball. The boys were thrilled to walk across the street to our neighbors and have all of their friends there to swim with.

Kiwanis Cub Scout Camp Weekend

Derek, Bryce, Micah and I attended Cub Scout Camp this weekend. It was hot, exhausting and more fun then can really be described. The boys were busy from the time we arrived until it was time for closing flag.

After completing our swim test - a great way to start a warm weekend:) The boys meet some new friends and played some basketball.

Saturday was jam packed with activies. Micah loved riding the ponies and being able to go to the archery range. He loved these so much that, he visited both of these stations during free time also. Archery was an interesting station for him. He started out very timid and scared to pull the arrow back, by the end of his time on Sunday he was working on his aim and hitting the target 90% or the time. I am proud of his hard work and persistence in trying new things.

Bryce loved hanging out with five of his friends from his crazy den. The boys learn many different things but I think the biggest thing was they earned their whittling chips. They also had a blast going through the personal fitness obstacle course, especially the zip line.

Bryce enjoyed shooting BB guns, whittling and being responsible for carrying the den flag.

Micah was able to be part of the color guard at closing flag.

Matthew had fun spending time with Uncle Mikey and Aunt Jessica. He enjoyed going to see Cars 2 and the beach. He loved being the center of attention all weekend long.

A Weekend without Electricity

The storm came out of no where Friday night. The winds were crazy taking down several trees at the cabin. Thousands of trees in the surrounding area. It was easy to see where the straight line winds ripped through the area. As a result, we were without power for the weekend.

No power makes for an interesting weekend when there are 20 people at the cabin for the day and 12 spending the night. Trying to keep the refriderater closed so the food will keep through the weekend. Hauling water from the lake to flush the toilet. Playing cards by candle light.

Yet, we had a great weekend. Sitting outside around the fire pit.

Going for a boat ride with all the grandkids.

The kids played, the adults visited. We enjoyed great food and made great family memories.
